Ian Murphy

Ian Murphy is a consultant in Innovation Management Incorporated, a Monitor Group company. Ian has been a consultant in the field of innovation and technology management for over 5 years. Before joining Monitor he was a managing consultant at Generics Group, and prior to that a manager in Arthur D Little’s Technology and Innovation Management Practice. Ian has spent over 7 years in research and development, supply chain and commercial roles in the consumer goods industry holding positions with SmithKline Beecham and Mars.

Ian is based in London MI office where he specializes in the identification and implementation of growth platforms, technology commercialization, capability valuation and exploitation, portfolio optimization, new business creation and business model development and rollout. New product development management activities have included: the mapping and optimization of business processes across development, manufacturing and distribution operations, managing a portfolio of R&D and engineering projects (both internal and with external suppliers) and creating strategic development partnerships with external suppliers and agencies. His recent projects have involved working with major manufacturers in the consumer products, food, chemicals, healthcare and energy industries.

Ian has an Honours Degree in Chemistry from St Edmund Hall, Oxford.
